Understanding Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) for 2023–24

Introduction

Northern United Charter Schools are dedicated to providing a safe, fair, and respectful environment for all students, staff, and parents. Our Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) are established to address concerns related to specific programs and activities that are subject to the UCP in our school.

What is UCP?

Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP) are processes that allow students, parents, and staff to seek resolution for complaints related to:

  • Discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying against any protected group.
  • Accommodations for Pregnant and Parenting Pupils.
  • Physical Education Instructional Minutes.
  • Pupil Fees.
  • Reasonable Accommodations to a Lactating Pupil.
  • Educational and graduation requirements for specific pupil groups.
  • And More

How to File a Complaint

  1. Identify the Issue:
    • Ensure your complaint falls under the categories addressed by UCP.
  2. Document Your Concern:
    • Clearly detail your complaint, providing as much relevant information and evidence as possible.
  3. Submit Your Complaint:
    • Use the online complaint form or submit your complaint via email or post to the designated department or individual.
  4. Track and Follow Up:
    • Keep a record of your complaint submission and follow up as needed during the review process.

UCP Resources for Parents and Students

UCP Resources are designed to guide you through the complaint process, ensuring that your concerns are addressed effectively and transparently. These resources adhere to the California Code of Regulations, Title 5 (5 CCR) sections 4600–4694, and are applicable to various programs and activities subject to the UCP.

Williams Complaint Issues

In addition to the above, the UCP Resources also address Williams Complaint issues, which include:

  • Deficiencies related to instructional materials.
  • Teacher vacancy or misassignments.
  • Conditions of facilities that are not maintained in a clean or safe manner or in good repair.
